Time to update!
Have not posted in a while and need to catch up. I have only been out 4 times in last couple weeks and 3 were at local parks which produced nothing but clad.....$10.38 with 26 quarters, 31 dimes, 11 nickels, and 23 pennies. This past weekend I took my wife up to the Mississippi in Prairie Du Chien to visit step daughter and MD since she got a cheaper whites detector. She knew of a place in Iowa across the river that was way out in boonies and we hiked 2 miles along RR tracks tucked between the mighty Miss. and bluffs that went straight up 50 stories or more. Absolutely as isolated as I have ever seen and a half-mile across the river was Wisconsin in its original pristine state as far as your eyes could see. Here we found an old abandoned homestead that blew me away. The people that lived here left abruptly as there was every kind of trash strewn everywhere and we harvested alot of old ruins. We detected for an hour and I came up with an 1869 shield nickel, 1905 barber dime, 1893 Indian head penny, 1918-D merc dime and my 2nd 3-cent nickel this year.....an 1868. The girls did not have the same luck and got frustrated with detecting and started scavenging artifacts. This is when the best detectors come thru as I could go deeper and disc out iron alot easier. I will go back again sometime and take more ruins and hopefully more coins! HH~Andy~

Most face value for year!
The weather finally got back in 50's today and since I had no old sites lined up, I thought I would hit one of the 2 parks that I have not hit around here. Three hours produced $4.16 with 10 quarters, 13 dimes, 6 nickels, and 6 pennies. Oh ya, and 31 pull tabs. All newer clad, but it was nice to get alot of hits and do some digging. Two holes produced coin spills, the first was 3 quarters, 2 dimes, 3 nickels, and a penny. Second was 1 quarter, 2 dimes and a nickel. I love those holes. Suppose to be near 70 or better for next few days before rain this weekend so I be there! YTD total-$16.30 HH~ANDY~aka(Lovesdiggingdeep)

Hot coins during cold front!
After a cold front came thru yesterday bringing our temp from 60 to 30 and a wind chill in teens, I decided to go to a friends house that had an old farmstead from early 1800's across the st. We found alot of farm pieces from tractors and plows, hinges and a silver piece of something the size of a spoon minus handle that has G.W.Skinner...Clayton,NY stamped on it! Also found some cool old coins including an 1853 half-dime, an 1859 indian head penny, a 1911 V-nickel, a 1940-s wheatie, a 1950-d wheatie, a 1960 and 1964 penny and a 1983 quarter. Only 40 cents, but I looked up wholesale value and it is apprx. $25. I am really getting into old sites that don't produce much but the value is way more rewarding. This makes 9 coins before 1900 that I have got this year already. Today.40 YTD $12.14 HH~ANDY~

!st ring this year
Went down to my fox river site again today and finished it up. 3 hours of struggling thru nasty stuff produced an 1865 two-cent piece. (First 1 I have ever found) shows a value of $10-15 wholesale so I was happy. About 20 feet from the coin along the river I got a 82 Vdi which indicated dime-quarter and I dug 6" and found my first ring of the year....silver with what looks like about 12 diamonds and very old. A couple old shotgun shells and 8 newer pennies rounded out my day as I got out of the thick stuff and into worn areas from fishermen that had obviously been hit hard. Now to find another site, they are hard to find. Today .10 YTD $11.74 + 1 ring HH~ANDY~

Glad I rechecked 1 more time!
Went back to old pumping station today to make 1 final sweep since area is so small, 1 hour and I got 1 faint beep along building showing dime/quarter. This tickled me and I dug 6-7 inches and found an 1893 barber dime which I scratched up a bit. Rescanned hole and it still said quarter and I pulled out some more dirt and wow an 1893-s barber quarter. I ended up finding 3 barber dimes and a barber quarter from this location over 3 attempts but I believe I now have finished this site. Went over to park and got 92 cents in clad for a total of $1.27. YTD: $11.64 HH!ANDY~
